  1. Sam's second link reads as follows (since Twitter is slow and unreliable today):

    CO11MetPolice Metropolitan Police
"Individuals seeking to disrupt the 2 minute silence will be dealt with robustly #Armistice Day #remember"

It's hard to imagine a more appropriate way to commemorate those who lost their lives in two World Wars than by dealing robustly with individuals. @CO11MetPolice, we salute you!

In June Tabor news ... I don't understand why it is that folk singers insist on doing unaccompanied numbers. (Joni Mitchell's The Fiddle and the Drum, Susanne Vega's Tom's Diner, others too numerous to mention including several people at my local folk club.) I don't think I've ever heard an unaccompanied solo song that wouldn't be improved by accompaniment.

Seeking to disrupt the two minutes silence which means such a lot to a lot of people doesn't seem that appropriate either TBH.

  4. And who exactly was "seeking to disrupt the 2 minute silence"? The only public comment I heard was from the Occupy camp, who said they would be observing it!

Some fanatical political Islamist group threatened to bury poppies or something, but they later called this action off.

This is in accord with previous police actions to keep the public safe from Brazilians on the Tube, newspaper vendors going home from work and men having epileptic fits.
