I, of course preferred Jack Kirby's definitive version of 2001.

  1. I was reading Golden Age SF while the rest of you read comic books. ACC was never that good on characters but he could write a stunningly good short story. Definitely the end of an era.

  2. I'm with you, Louise. The comics weren't bad, but the books were better, ACC's among them.

  3. I think I read both and saw the film at approx same time.

    Kirby was a better director than Kubrick. And his characters had more believable ranges of expressions.
