The point of those articles was that someone said that they like a certain thing even though they thought it was terrible and I thought "I wonder what they mean by that."
I have been known to say that, or something very like it.
When I do, I mean: Experiencing that gave me pleasure, in the way that I like eating Haribo Sourmix; but, like Haribo Sourmix, it provides no nourishment, it quite possibly is harmful, and the world would lose nothing and quite probably be better-off if it did not exist.
(One thing I do remember saying it about, for example, was Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Watching it gave me subjective pleasure as I enjoyed the twisty time-travel plot, but considered objectively as a piece of art, it adds nothing to the world; it is utterly disposable, and therefore valueless (which is pretty much as 'terrible' as art can be). )
