May The Source Be With You: Extended Edition

my Patreons are reading a few out-takes which I couldn't fit into the original post (about another thousand words or so)

How far is Anchorhead from Mos Eisley?
Why is Leia not more sad when her planet blows up?
How long is Leia on the Death Star?
Is it, in fact, only a movie?

Wow, I read your blog about 20 years ago. There was a caricature of you on it & even though I don’t about Dr. Who, I enjoyed your writing.

Glad to see you recently wrote about Star Wars. Even more glad to see you haven’t like the woketards & SJWs drag you down. Fuck those people. Write what you want.

Now - I’ll be back sooner than 20 years.

(The stuff on Tolkien was very fun.)

Glad you still like my writing. Gosh, yes, the caricature of me in a rain coat is ancient history...!

I assume you have read enough of my rambling to know what I think of terms like "woke" and "SJW"

Virtue Signalling = Less conservative than me
Woke = Less racist than me
PC = Less rude than me
SJW = Less mental than me

Interesting definitions, but as a counterpoint, practically everyone I know is less conservative than me and they don't all go in for virtue signalling; there are lots of woke people who are more racist than me; there's almost no one in the world ruder than me, but the 99.9% of the population who aren't can't all be PC; and I don't think I've ever met anyone more mental than what social justice warriors have to pretend they believe. Maybe a couple of die-hard 'Stalin was a good guy' tankies?

I do of course mean that the people who use these terms apply then to people they consider to be too liberal, too polite, insufficiently racist and not as crazy they are. I do not of course mean that someone who is less racist than me personally is to be considered woke.

It used to be the case that you could replace the word woke with "insufficiently racist" without changing the meaning of the sentence, e.g "The casting of the new Doctor Who is insufficiently racist"; "Footballers who take the knee are insufficiently racist"; "Opposing celebratory memorials to human traffickers is insufficiently racist".

However, in the last month, I have heard the word applied to

1: The practice of installing public lavatories with private cubicles but no open urinals
2: The casting of Chris Evans to do the voice of a cartoon astronaut
3: A private school deciding to change its name
4: Any lawyer acting on behalf of an asylum seeker
5: Reading books about history
6: Not eating fried breakfasts.

This is all quite true and not a funny exaggeration on my part.

I therefore contend that the word now has no meaning whatsoever, and simply refers to anything which annoys a certain kind of confused ultra-conservative.

Godwin's second law states: "It is 99% certain that anyone who uses the word Woke pejoratively will turn out to be a fuckhead."
